SUN SAFETY EDUCATION

The Arizona Skin Cancer Foundation provides fun, engaging, appropriate lessons and activities that help children and adults discover how to stay sun-safe in Arizona’s intense UV environment.

Games:

  • Sun Safety Family Feud
  • Sun Safety Jeopardy
  • Sun Safety Bingo
  • Sunny Says

Lessons:

  • How desert animals have adapted to thrive in Arizona’s hot, sunny, and dry environments.
  • What your shadow reveals about the intensity of the sun.
  • Why do animals in the wild use sun protection?
  • What zoo animals use sunscreen and why?

Craft Activities:

  • UV-sensitive bead projects that visually reinforce sun safety habits.
  • Face “painting” with colored sunscreen sticks to make sun protection fun and creative.

Sun-Smart Creators Poster Contest:

  • Participants of all ages design posters that promote sun-safe behaviors, with prizes awarded for creativity.

The Arizona Skin Cancer Foundation would love to educate your eligible group about sun safety. Email your request to info@skinexam.org. Eligible groups include people with chronic illness, physical disability, low income. We are also interested in bringing sun safety education to schools and the public.
